Stopping Public Lands Sell-Offs

Reframing the debate helped save America’s public lands 

When public lands faced threats of disposal, USNI worked with partners to shift the conversation from “federal overreach” to protecting what belongs to all Americans. Through coordinated messaging across earned media, podcasts, digital advertising, social media, and a successful influencer campaign, the effort sparked bipartisan opposition to sell-offs. The result was the protection of millions of acres and a reinforced narrative of conservation as a shared American value.

Securing Texas’s Water Future

Making water security a shared Texas priority

Texas faces increasing strain on its freshwater systems—from aging infrastructure to prolonged drought—yet long-term solutions struggled to gain unified public and political support. USNI helped translate complex water challenges into a clear, widely shared priority by grounding the work in research, message testing, and coordinated partner engagement.

By applying data-driven insights and aligning state and national stakeholders around a disciplined, values-based narrative, USNI supported a unified approach that elevated water security as essential to economic stability, community resilience, and responsible stewardship. Texas voters ultimately approved Proposition 4, dedicating $20 billion to the Texas Water Fund to support long-term water supply and infrastructure needs. The outcome demonstrated that conservation solutions can earn durable, bipartisan backing in a conservative state and laid the groundwork for lasting freshwater policy for the future.
