OUR PILLARS
Public Lands
America’s public lands are a shared inheritance — and a bipartisan opportunity.
From national forests to Bureau of Land Management lands, America’s public lands are central to our national identity, outdoor economy, and wildlife heritage. They support millions of jobs, anchor rural communities, and provide access for sportsmen, recreationists, and families across the country.
Public support for these lands is consistently bipartisan — yet policy outcomes and protections often swing with political cycles. USNI focuses on actually translating that broad public support into durable, lasting policy stability.
What We Do
USNI invests in strategic campaigns and bipartisan infrastructure that protect public access, strengthen long-term land management frameworks, and elevate trusted voices across the political spectrum. Our work includes:
Supporting coordinated, bipartisan efforts to protect shared ownership of public lands while solving for future challenges.
Investing in congressional and cross-sector coalitions and relationships that reinforce public lands as a shared American value.
Advancing durable policy approaches that balance conservation, access, and wildfire resilience.
In 2025, USNI helped align a broad, bipartisan coalition that successfully blocked a large-scale public lands sell-off proposal — protecting millions of acres and reinforcing the principle that America’s public lands are shared and valued by us all.
Our focus now is sustaining bipartisan support for public lands, and pivoting towards the future of public lands health, the role of public lands in rural economies and communities, and their improved management.
